ICS Management
Peter Winston, President and Chief Executive Officer
Peter Winston graduated from Vassar and began working at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), where he was involved in software development for PCs and workstations. After attending the MIT X User conference in 1987, Peter founded Integrated Computer Solutions, Inc. (ICS), creating the first company focused on the burgeoning X community.
Peter added training courses to the ICS consulting business after identifying the X community's demand for these resources at the 1988 X User Conference. Bolstered by the success of ICS training, he started the X User Group to provide needed information and collaboration to the X community, and produced the first "Xhibition" in 1988, a technical tradeshow and conference that grew to an audience of 10,000 attendees.
Builder Xcessory, the flagship product for ICS, debuted in 1989. BX PRO is the industry's most powerful graphical user interface (GUI) builder.
In 1992,
Peter received the Inc. Magazine New England Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
The second half of the nineties saw ICS add the Motif application to its product offerings and expand
into the user interface development business, becoming the largest independent supplier of Motif and
leading the global Open Motif project team. The acquisition of Centerline in 2004 and UIMX in 2005
reinforced ICS' commitment to support Motif developers who are maintaining large projects. By
combining two powerful product lines and significantly enhancing and simplifying the entire
software development process, ICS solidified its position as the leader in Motif tools and services. Its client list is primarily made up of Fortune 500 companies, and ICS has a customer base of more than 10,000.
In 2002, ICS became the premier Qt consulting, service and training provider by acquiring exclusive rights to resell
Qt extensions and testing tools. The ICS consulting team is the largest independent source of Qt
experts in North America.
ICS' focus today is on helping people design and deliver world-class user interfaces on any platform with any toolkit.
In 2006, recognizing an emerging market important to ICS' Global 2000 customers, Peter
purchased Project.net. Project.net is a project portfolio management application that addresses the
needs of all corporate and project stakeholders – executives, portfolio managers, project managers,
and team members – for current and accurate information on the status of important projects and the
performance of distributed project teams. Project.net leverages ICS' expertise in user interfaces to create a fully-featured enterprise project management application that helps companies plan, execute and deliver on their entire portfolio of projects.

Marketing for Apollo Computers. In this latter position, he played a key
role in the formation of a number of industry groups including the X
Consortium and the Open Software Foundation. Mark has a Masters in
